By design, a MIDI device has 16 channels-lots of reasons for that-but that's the standard. ZootS is very kind with his impression of my "grasp" of midi, but I have had to deal with it a lot using different music related software.

Sorry, it's been a VERY long Sunday for me today, and I'm just getting home. Share Link to this post Send Email to ZootS Send PM to ZootS

Windows 11 - Win 10, Win 8.1, Win 7 before it There is a big "I think" associated with this. You could do the same with trumpet 1 and 2, etc. However, you might get acceptable results if you grouped for example all the piano parts on the same channel in the mixer then they would be linked to the correct sounds in the Aria player unlike the flute/trombone example above. This isn't a careful, exhaustive test and my knowledge is limited but to me, it looks like you can't do it. I tried starting another instance of the Aria player but that only made the original one go away. The default orchestra new score is for 16 instruments, the mixer is for 16 channels. So if you have a flute and trombone on the same channel with the flute assigned as the instrument, the trombone sounds like a flute.Įverything in SS looks like it is limited to 16 channels. Where this comes unstuck is that the instrument assigned is specified on a channel basis, not a track basis. It can have more than 16 tracks with the data for more than one stave being sent on the same channel. In the case of SS, it looks to me with a quick test of your problem that the basic MIDI output is limited to 16 channels. In programs like Finale they assign the next group of 16 channels to a second instance of the Aria player. The Aria player is limited to 16 channels. Of course, you can and maybe should email support with the question.

Tlwebb, has a much better grasp on it so hopefully he will see this and add whatever he can. I don't really understand the complexities of MIDI all that well.

Re: Assigning Garritan voices to more than 16 tracks Share Link to this post Send Email to BlazeGlory Send PM to BlazeGlory Blog Is there a way to assign voices to the remaining 11 staves using the aria player? I am contemplating purchasing the Garritan Personal Orchestra but am not sure whether I would be able to fully utilize it. However, when I try to assign voices using Garritan sounds in the aria player there seems to be only 16 slots and one of them is for percussion. I scanned a conductor score with 26 staves and an enf file was created with all of them. I was surprised to see that you are able to scan sheet music with any number of parts. I have been using Smartscore for many years and have recently upgraded to X2 pro. Sign up ( learn about it) | Sign in ( lost password?) Assigning Garritan voices to more than 16 tracks
